Abstract - This presentation will discuss the potential of behavior analysts to be crucial members of teams supporting individuals whose behavior has been shaped through traumatic events. The behavioral conceptualization of traumatic events will be introduced along with why the concept of trauma-informed behavior analysis may result in more effective and humane interventions for our clients.

 

Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to describe the experience of traumatic events using behavior analytic terms.
2. Participants will be able to describe the role of a behavior analyst on a multi-disciplinary team working with individuals who have experienced traumatic events. 

Mission Statement:

To disseminate the science of human behavior to the public at large, through the use of easy to understand explanations.  Our goal is to promote behavior analysis in a positive and accurate light, to help society realize the potential of our science.
